This is a simple graphic print of an Agapanthus, also known as the 'Love Flower'. The name is derived from the Ancient Greek words  agápē, meaning 'love', and ánthos, meaning 'flower'. It is also known as 'Lily of the Nile' and symbolises romance, fertility, and beauty. It is deeply rooted in African and botanical lore.

I made this print after falling in love with an Agapanthus plant in my garden - looking like a frozen firework when in full bloom.

This print is part of an open edition and would be a gorgeous addition to any wall, but particularly for gardeners and flower lovers. It is also a thoughtful way to show your deep love for someone - whether romantic or for a deep friendship - given its symbolism.

Printed in a deep velvety black and metallic gold using Cranfield inks, this linocut is printed on natural Nepalese lokta paper made in the Himalayas. I love the paper because it is both brilliant quality and has the most wonderful delicate texture. It is also a particularly sustainable type of paper as it does not require the felling any trees. Instead, the bark is harvested from the Daphne bush. These are evergreen shrubs found in the Himalayas at altitudes of between 1,600 and 4,000 metres.

I am selling the prints unframed or with a teak wood poster frame holder that is made to fit the print. This will be sent unassembled to protect the print in transit, but is very easy to assemble. The wooden bars at the top and bottom of the print 'stick' together with ease because they have strong magnets embedded inside them. They are easy to take apart without damaging the print too.

All my designs are carved and printed by hand and every single one of them is a unique reproduction. Paper is more often cut by hand, too. For this reason, subtle variations in the paper, its size,  colour, inking and finish will occur from print to print. When you buy a hand pulled print from me, you are choosing these unique variations over digital reproductions.
