This greetings card is a reproduction of a larger original collograph print. The humpback whale is one of the most elusive and beautiful creatures to roam Earth's oceans and I tried to reflect this in the dreamy quality of the print. In the image a solitary humpback whale floats in what could be the depths of the sea or outer space. I have always felt that creatures like the humpback whale have an innate wisdom or knowing of this planet and that they symbolise everything that is precious about the marine world.

Collograph prints are made using a variety of materials - from cardboard, to string to textured papers to varnish - to create limited edition prints that have a unique depth of texture. The images can only be put through an intaglio press a relatively small number of times before the plate degrades, making each edition unique and precious.
