This greetings card is a reproduction of a larger reduction linocut print I made of a mackerel.

The bold image highlights the texture and colours of these beautiful fish as the light catches their scales against a stark white background. This print was inspired by my daily walks by the sea of fisherman out trying to win their next big catch as well as the fish themselves who swim in Channel waters.

This card would be ideal for a range of recipients - from sea swimmers to ocean afficionados to fishing enthusiasts to foodies.

Reduction linocut prints require destroying a sheet of lino as successive layers are carved and printed. This makes the linocut prints themselves very limited and unique, and require great precision when printing each layer - it can be quite the experiment for the printmaker who must take risks as they gradually cut away the block until there is nothing left.
