This greetings card is a reproduction of an aluminium etching of a sardine. Printed ina soft but deep blue tone, the organic shape of the fish contrasts with the subtle geometric pattern in the background that is reminiscent of a net or perhaps even a tablecloth.

The print was inspired by my daily walks by the sea, where I regularly pass fisherman huddling under tents or basking in the sun waiting for their next catch.

This card would be ideal for anyone from the foodie to the fisherman - or quite simply anyone who appreciates the beauty of fish.

Aluminium etchings are 'burned' on to metal plates in successive stages using a magnesium salt bath. The process can be painstaking and can take much experimentation and perseverance before the desired tone and texture is created.
