This greetings card is a reproduction of a larger original collograph print. The image depicts a single magpie stealing a sparkly ring but promptly dropping it mid air. I have always loved the crisp, bold plumage of magpies and their bold nature. The image has a sense of dynamism and movement as he tries to flee the scene with his treasure.

This card would be ideal for any bird lover or twitcher or perhaps to wish someone luck - after all, superstition has it that to see a solitary magpie is a good omen....

The original collograph print was made using cardboard, various scratching tools, glue, varnish and rubber for texture before it was printed using intaglio etching ink on damp paper through an heavyweight printing press. Due to the nature of this approach, a relatively small edition can be created, making each original print precious and unique.
